Baking soda makes a great face scrub which works well as an exfoliant, removing dead skin and preventing blockage of the pores. Make a paste by adding the baking soda to some water and apply to the face. Massage gently and then wash off and pat dry with clean towel

Lemon or lime juice – both contain citric acid which is effective as an exfoliant.

Egg Whites – separate the egg whites from the yolk and beat them thoroughly and apply directly to the face. Rinse off after 15 minutes. This will help to repair damaged skin.

Oatmeal – is effective in removing oil and impurities from the skin. Prepare the oatmeal as you would for eating, allow it to cool for a while but apply while still warm to the face, like a mask. Allow it to dry and then wash off. Alternatively You can also use dried uncooked oatmeal, dampened with warm water as a facial scrub to exfoliate the skin and clean the pores.

Tea Tree Oil (TTO) is found at most drugstores and used in many homes as an antiseptic. TTO can be applied directly to infected areas and will kill bacteria.

Aloe Vera – widely used in households to treat burns, Aloe Vera can be applied onto acne spots to heal them and will also help to prevent scarring.

These are seven of the many natural acne remedies readily available as effective alternatives to the much costlier synthetic medications available. It is important that whatever natural acne remedies you employ, you treat both the acne itself and also the inflammation caused by the acne. In this way you will alleviate immediate skin problems and help prevent future breakouts.
