I feel sad for you. I suffer the same allergic fate. I am so angry that I could use quite expensive cosmetics before and I look really good with no problems. Then I change one after another product but all giving me allergic reaction. Then I found that salicylic acid which is almost in every product. Right now I am using KHIEL and which I was told do not contain salicylic acid except in their pimple cream. My suggestion is to ask for sample, or buy small (if go wrong you return). Dont use pimple cream, just keep skin fresh clean with moisturisers. The pimple will go away. Pimple dont "grow" on clean properly moisturized skin. AND KEEP DIRTY FINGERS AWAY FROM YOUR SKIN.

It looks like you' ve got some great advice, here. I'm also allergic to Salicylic acid, and I've found that if I keep my skin clean and moisturized and don't touch my face, I have fewer breakouts. I just use a gentle facial cleanser or glycerin based soap.

The standard today for controlling acne is a regimen of (1) exfoliating, (2) toning with alpha-hydroxy acid, and (3) benzoyl peroxide. Acne has three stages, and this approach treats all three stages. ProActive Solution's basic care products treat all three stages and does use benzoyl peroxide. It's the most widely used acne treatment in the world, because it works.

The next best thing is to substitute salicylic acid for the benzoyl peroxide, if you are overly sensitive to the benzoyl peroxide.

How was the "allergy" diagnosed? Did you use it and have redness and decide you were allergic, or did you have a test with a dermatologist or allergist? You might be sensitive to it, but not allergic. Big difference. Don't self-diagnose. If over the counter products aren't working the way you hoped, you've wasted enough time with the hit or miss approach. See a dermatologist.

it's hard to tell exactly what is causing the reaction. it could be an ingredient other than the salicylic acid. i have severely sensitive skin and i've had quick, effective results with CLEAN & CLEAR DUAL ACTION MOISTURIZER. it contains salicylic acid, but also a mosturizer so that it won't dry out your. it's fairly inexpensive too! :) :) :)

very soothing!

I understand what you are saying. Many people are allergic to salicylic acid. I'm not but I am allergic to many other ingredients in skin care products. Like me, you just have sensitive skin.

You're also right about toothpaste. It absolutely does not work. I use Clinique Number 4 and I'm not sure if there is salicylic acid in that or not. I also use Benzaclin. Both help but you should check for SA.

If they do, my best advice is to just pop the zit, put rubbing alcohol on it, and apply some kind of acne lotion that won't bother you. Talk to your doctor or your dermotologist and you can probably find something.

Good luck! :)

try something with Benzyl Peroxide in it. It's the main active ingredient in proactiv, but a lot of other cheaper brands use it too, like clearasil i think. just go to a drugstore and read the box to see if it has bezyl peroxide in it.
